The Kalliroscope Gallery is in the sanctuary of the Old Baptist Church in Groton, Massachusetts.  The congregation moved out in 1970 to build a larger church and Paul Matisse bought the empty church and moved into it in 1982.  The interior was extensively renovated to create a gallery for his work, living space and studio.

For 36 years, The Kalliroscope Gallery was the venue for Indian Hill Music’s (now Groton Hill Music) prestigious chamber music series. Nationally and internationally acclaimed artists performed in this beautiful intimate space with its excellent acoustics and inspiring artwork.

We have recently resumed hosting intimate chamber music performances once again at the gallery. If you would like to be added to our email distribution list, please let us know.

We look forward to welcoming Moldovan accordianist, Radu Ratoi, to the gallery on Sunday, April 19th at 3pm. A winner of some of the world’s most prestigious accordion competitions, Radu captivates audiences with performances that are both breathtaking and unforgettable. Combining exceptional technical skill with bold artistic innovation, he continually redefines the possibilities of the accordion, turning each performance into a powerful journey of musical expression.

Committed to elevating the instrument’s presence in the classical music world, he expands its reach through inventive transcriptions, collaborations with composers, and appearances as a soloist with orchestras and chamber ensembles. Inspired by the idea that “the accordion is an instrument that breathes, and this breath has an immediate connection with the human soul,” his work resonates deeply with audiences worldwide.

Radu Ratoi (b. 09.20.1998) started accordion at the age of 6, and by age 7, was performing on stage for concerts and contests.  Since then, Radu has captivated audiences worldwide with his musicality, technical brilliance and charisma, and he will showcase his remarkable passion and skill in a program that will include J S Bach, Liszt, Rameau, Saint-Saens and Schubert and there will be an opportunity to mingle with him at the end of the concert.
